Established in 1848, Prudential offered professionals loans secured by life assurance. As the company grew it then went on to provide policies for the poorer working class by way of premiums for a penny collected by agents. The Prudential expanded further and in the 1900’s it could claim to be insuring one third of the population of the UK.
The Prudential continued to bring new plans to an ever increasing market and was soon offering policies for single women after WW1 as well as family and home protection. This was followed by group pensions and in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s Prudential increased its portfolio of plans to include ones for long term savers, retirement annuities and life cover.
The Prudential private medical insurance policies are available for customers with varying levels of cover and cost. The PMI policies begin with a Core plan with limited outpatient care up to a Comprehensive plan that would cover a higher level of treatments and benefits.
Customers can also include dental care in their list of private health insurance benefits to cover major and routine treatments. It is also possible to include psychiatric care with cover for such treatments as stress counselling and treatment with a psychiatrist if necessary. Prudential will also include a list of therapies such as Acupuncture, Homeopathy and Osteopathy.
