AXA PPP Healthcare, known as such since 2002, is one of the largest and most experienced private health insurance providers. AXA has an annual pay out in the UK of just under £700m in healthcare every year. Around 2 million people are covered by an AXA PPP Private Medical Insurance (PMI) Policy. AXA PPP provides access to a network of over 250 hospitals and almost 400 scanning centres.
AXA PPP Healthcare began in 1938 with the idea that people should invest money each month in the event of a medical scare. By the 1960’s the nationwide membership had grown and in the ‘70’s customer numbers reached 367,000. AXA PPP Healthcare was at the forefront of new ideas and introduced the first private medical insurance plan to include private healthcare care for families. A Retirement Health Plan was made available for the over 60’s.
The UK’s largest private dental care company DenPlan was acquired by AXA. A 24 hour customer health information service was the next customer benefit available to its members which by the 1990’s had reached 1.79 million. During the late 90’s the company was acquired by Guardian Royal Exchange which in turn was acquired by Sun Life & Provincial Holdings, part of the immensely successful AXA Group.
Since 2002 AXA PPP Healthcare have been able to expand their portfolio of private medical insurance plans to benefit every member of society who wishes to supplement their private healthcare costs with a plan that suits their own finances and age.
